Engle Wins March Red Mill Open
Oscar Engle, the 1971 Pennsylvania Horseshoe champion, won the march Red Mill Open at Washington, Pa by defeating Clyde Martz in a sudden death playoff with 86% in 108 shoes compared to Martz’s 81%. Some of the performance highlights were: Engle’s 46 consecutive ringers against Dale Carson; Solomon’s close game over Roberts 50-46; Martz and Engle throwing 10 consecutive 4 deads; Donnie Roberts defeating Martz in the final game to force the playoff.
