Zadroga Edges Out Victory In January Red Mill Open

Al Zadroga of Elizabeth, Pa. managed to defeat all of his opponents to win the toughest Red Mill tournament to date.  Each individual in the Championship Class was either a present of former state champion within the past few years, and they all came to win.  For the first event of the year, there were many highlights:  Zadroga performing at an exceptional level, winning a crucial game over Martz after being behind 40-29; over half of all the games with the opponent scoring more than 40 points; Donnie Roberts overcoming Engle’s lead of 40-28; Dale Carson pushing Engle to 114 shoes before Buck was able to win; Engle with 91 ringers and Martz 85 after 100 shoes, and then Engle finally winning 50-48 at 140 shoes; Zadroga’s high game of 89.2% against Engle; Carson upsetting Solomon 54-47.
