Elmer Hohl Successfully Defends Eastern National Title
Nearly 100 players had a rousing ringer fest at Erie, featured by some very exciting games. Elmer Hohl won the Eastern National for the fifth time in six years. Clyde Martz was leading Elmer 49-39, but Elmer then threw 26 in a row and won 51-49. Clyde had a couple rough games in the final two as the Hohl game went 148 shoes and then he had to pitch 156 shoes to defeat Paul Focht.
Al Zadroga
pitched a 92.2% game to defeat Ansil Copeland for the highest game in the
tourney. On Saturday evening, Lorraine
Thomas and Ruth Hangen locked up in a record setter. 126 shoes with 108 ringers for Lorraine and 105 for Ruth. Lorraine averaged 85.7% in that game. They also had 31 four dead in that match.
