Engle Best Ringer Herdsman in 1969 New Castle Fall Ringer Roundup

 

Oscar Engle of Pittsburgh became the champion in the wild and wooly Fall Ringer Roundup at New Castle, Pa, September 20-21. After winning the 3 way tie in Class A-2, Engle went into the Double A class and won from Dale Carson of Baltimore with a score of 50-30 by pitching 86 ringers out of 102 shoes for 84.3%. Carson had 80 for 102 for 78.4%

A big crowd was on hand to watch this big event at the George Washington courts. Opal Corbett was the tournament director. New Castle banks and merchants were the sponsors.
