Engle Retains Van Buren Warm Up Title

The initial sponsorship of the Van Buren Spring Warm-up Tournament by the Van Buren Men’s Club of Vanport, Pa. was a rousing success.  Although classes A and B had to be delayed one week by rain, no other difficulties were experienced.

The class A championship was successfully defended by Oscar Engle of Pittsburgh, Pa., who won all his games with an average ringer percentage of 77.5%.  Clyde Martz of Pittsburgh ran a close second, losing only to the defending champion.

A fine turnout enjoyed the tournament.  The spectators watched pitchers perform from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Maryland, and West Virginia.
