James Solomon Wins Southwestern Penn. Invitational
Jimmy Solomon defeated Jimmy Ohler in a sudden death pitch-off to become the Southwestern Pennsylvania Champion. In this game Solomon threw 84.5% and Ohler 81.0%. Throughout the competition Ohler was in rare form, averaging 83.2% and losing only to Albert Zadroga. Six of the eight pitchers for in Class A averaged over the 70% mark, thus setting a very high precedent for what is hoped to become an annual event.
John
Clingan captured the Class B honors, losing only to Robert Werner. The sportsman award went to Robert Hummell
for his energetic support and promotion of this tournament. The Washington Horseshoe Club is certainly
to be congratulated on promoting not only this event, but also the revival of
organized horseshoes in the southwestern corner of our state.
