Albert Zadroga – 1962 Allegheny County Horseshoe Champion

 

    Albert Zadroga of Elizabeth, Pa., successfully defended his title of Allegheny County at the Dormont courts, Sunday, July 15th.  The championship was not decided until the final game of the tournament in which Zadroga met Oscar Engle of Beechview.  Both men were undefeated in the competition going into the final round.  Zadroga won the crucial game 51-34, throwing 70% ringers as opposed to Engle’s 63%

    In Class B the round robin competition ended in a tie for first place between Clyde Martz of Whitehall and Joseph Ehrlich of Mt. Oliver.  Ehrlich then defeated Martz in a 50-point game.  Class C was won by Jake Fiore of Wexford defeating everyone but Mike Churley of Swissvale.  Class D ended in a tie between John Regan of Mt. Washington and John Gallagher of Dormont.  In the pitch-off, Regan defeated Gallagher.
