Wilson Wins Beaver County Title

The Beaver County Horseshoe championship was won by Buck Wilson pitching 62% to win the title from Lefty Brobeck.  The Doubles tournament was won by Ralph and Bob Groves of Zelienople.  Wilson and Brobeck, last year’s champs, had to forfeit all their games when Wilson was one hour late for the tournament.

We now have ten teams in our county league with Zelienople, last year’s champs, taking the first half championship.  We now have about 300 men pitching horseshoes in Beaver County.

Herman Boyer’s daughter, Mary Boyer, and John McCann Jr., were married July 15th, 1961 at ST. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Beaver, Pa.  John McCann is also a horseshoe pitcher.
